Sue Kathler is the Vice President, HR Consulting with People First HR Services Ltd. In addition to leading the Consulting Division, she provides consulting in such areas as Succession Planning, Strategic Planning, Executive Coaching, Executive and Leadership Assessments, Team Development Consulting, and Talent Management.
Sue is a bilingual HR professional with over 20 years experience in the public and private sectors. Previously, Sue was a Senior Human Resources Consultant within the financial services industry where she oversaw the activities of the Human Resources Consulting team and provided the full range of HR generalist services to a substantial client base, including all employees in the province of Quebec.
Sue’s first career was as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces where she rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Sue held a number of senior positions, including overseeing the provision of human resource services to over 12,000 people. She also acquired specialist knowledge in recruitment, performance management, and strategic personnel planning. Career highlights include: selection as the Air Force representative on the NATO Commission on Security and Defense; leading the breakthrough re-engineering team for performance management on behalf of 20,000 Department of National Defence employees; representing Air Force interests on the Officers General Specific Board – the core study which defined training specification for all officers in the Canadian Armed Forces; and, serving as one of the first female Commanding Officers in the Air Force.
Sue is a Certified Human Resources Professional and Executive Coach. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Winnipeg as well as a Certificate in Human Resource Management from University of Manitoba. Current community contribution includes: Regional Chair for the Canadian Forces Liaison Council, Advisor to the Hubbell Awards, United Way Leadership Chair, General Business, member of the United Way Participation Task Force, Governor and Past Chair of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires Manitoba Division, Past Chair and Director of St John Ambulance, Manitoba Council and member of the Red River College Human Resource Management Advisory Council. Sue is a member of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, the Manitoba Club, The Institute of Corporate Directors, and the Human Resource Management Association of Manitoba.
