Sue Kathler is a functionally bilingual HR professional with over 20 years experience in the public and private sectors. As Vice- President, Sue is the Division Leader for the HR Consulting practice. Her role includes executive coaching, executive development, executive retreats, succession planning, Organizational Reviews, psychometric profiling, leadership assessment, team assessments, team building, competency development, and talent management systems.
Prior to joining People First, Sue was a Senior Human Resources Consultant with a major financial services organization. In that role she was charged with overseeing the activities of the Human Resources Consulting team and providing HR support to a substantial client base, including all operations in the province of Quebec.
Sue´s first career was as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces where she eventually rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Sue held a number of very senior positions, including overseeing the provision of personnel services to over 12,000 people. She also acquired specialist knowledge in such areas as training, attraction and selection, and strategic personnel planning. Career highlights include: selection as the Air Force representative on the NATO Commission on Security and Defense; leading the breakthrough re-engineering team for performance management on behalf of 20,000 Department of National Defence employees; representing Air Force interests on the Officers General Specific Board - the core study which defined competencies for all officers in the Canadian Armed Forces; and, serving as one of the first female Commanding Officers in the Air Force.
Sue is a Certified Human Resources Professional and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Winnipeg as well as a Certificate in Human Resource Management from University of Manitoba. She is President of St John Ambulance, Manitoba Council, Immediate Past Chair of the Board of Governors for the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, Manitoba Division, and a member of the Canadian Forces Liaison Council. In addition, Sue is a member of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, The Manitoba Club, the Women of Winnipeg (WOW) and the Human Resource Management Association of Manitoba.
